Build it step by step
Open an LDraw model and follow it like building instructions, step by step or part by part.
- Parts list for every step, with colour and your progress in each batch
- A window with the next part, and the part highlighted on the model
- Swipe the list to flip between steps, like the pages of a booklet
- Portrait or landscape, and distraction-free full screen

Cinematic quality
A home-grown render engine designed to make models look real on a phone.
- Realistic plastic, metal, rubber and pearl
- Real-time shadows with a sun you can move, and sunsets
- Ambient occlusion, rim light for dark parts and accurate outline edges
- Skies, clouds and environment reflections

Huge models on modest phones
Buf3D uses Progressive Fans, a multiresolution technology created by Antonio Cortés: it builds and displays models of millions of triangles out of core, adjusting the detail in real time.
- Scans and meshes with millions of triangles, smooth
- Models with thousands of parts, like whole ships and cities
- Compressed the first time, then they load instantly

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost?
It is a one-time purchase on Google Play: no ads, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.
What is LDraw?
An open standard for describing brick-built models part by part, with a library of thousands of parts. It is used by programs such as LDCad, LeoCAD or Studio, which can export your designs to LDraw to view them in Buf3D+.
Does it work offline?
Yes, with your own files. For LDraw models you can install the parts library from a ZIP. The model catalogue does need a connection, as it links to the original websites.
Which phone do I need?
It runs on Android 4.0 and later. Shadows and ambient occlusion need OpenGL ES 3, which almost any current phone has.
Is it useful for 3D printing?
Yes: it opens STL and OBJ, and exports any model to STL or OBJ choosing the triangle count.
